The home for direct, transparent information leading to the sustainable recovery of areas affected by Hurricane Laura and Hurricane Delta.
The Disaster
Following the widespread predictions that the 2020 hurricane season would be more active than usual, Hurricane Laura barrelled onshore to the United States August 27th, making landfall near Lake Charles and Cameron, LA.
Hurricane Laura was one of the strongest hurricanes to make landfall in Louisiana and the 10th-strongest hurricane to make landfall in the United States to date with wind speeds reaching up to 150 mph. The current loss of life is listed at 6 people while hundreds of thousands more are without food, water, and millions without power.
Hurricane Delta made landfall near Creole, Louisiana on October 9 as a category-2 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph. Delta moved ashore just east of where Hurricane Laura made landfall in September and impacts were amplified for those areas still recovering from Laura.
Aerial Recovery Group, including its volunteer team of Green Berets, is preparing to deploy for their 3rd relief trip to some of the most affected areas to assist with the relief efforts.
